Construction Schedule Guest Impact

For the comfort of our guests, all construction will take place Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 am and 6:00 pm. No work will be done on the weekends. Public areas, dining room and lounge currently remain open as usual. All construction zones are fenced off for safety. Please call the hotel directly as we would be happy to answer your questions regarding the work being done.
Until construction is complete, management has determined that during the early stages of construction, we will be unable to confirm large-scale weddings. Kitchen construction, guest room construction and the elevator addition combined with common area improvements, including the relocation of the lounge, would adversely impact large functions. However, as we near completion, we look forward to booking weddings, corporate retreats, and other groups for future dates.
It should be noted that the new construction project will not affect current or future groups, meetings or events at Benbow KOA, Benbow Valley Golf, nor will it affect cabin lodging or camping options at the campground.
Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) Rooms
Three new deluxe sleeping rooms and restrooms will be constructed to comply with the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA). The ADA is often mistaken for a building code, when it is in fact a civil rights act. With the passing of this legislation, additional responsibilities were placed on lodging owners and operators. The ADA rooms will have roll-in showers and convenient access by elevator to the main lobby, terrace, lounge and dining room.
Designed by architect David Pierce, the new additions will mirror Benbow Historic Inn's historic architectural lines and will be both warm and inviting. The new construction includes a ground floor wine cellar-themed dining room that will seat 40, lower level restrooms and gift shop.
The existing bar and lounge will be moved adjacent to the dining room. The kitchen will also be expanded to enhance its dining capacity and catering capabilities. The new Hunt Room will double in size, increasing both dining and meeting capacity.
This proposed plan follows the inn’s 2013 completion of a $600,000 renovation all guest rooms, common areas and the addition of historic photos throughout the property. In 2015, Benbow Historic Inn completed a $1.5 million improvement that included energy-efficient windows, construction of a new terrace surface and extensive waterproofing of the terrace rooms.
New Event Center Planned
In conjunction with the main building project, additional capital will be allocated to construct the new Benbow Event Center, located across the street from the inn. The event center will offer convenient, off-site group meeting space and additional parking for weddings and social functions and accommodate up to 150 guests. The new space and outdoor deck area will be ideal for a wide array of business events and social functions.
Construction Impact on Weddings, Large Groups & Lodging
Once finalized, construction activity will be limited to weekdays during normal business hours. Noise levels will therefore have no impact on weekend guests or mid-week evening dining. Menu selections for hotel guests will be adjusted based on available kitchen resources.
